Community Member - Individual
Your membership year (Policy P01):
Start Date - The day we receive your first payment.
Length - 12 months, at the full subscription rate of $60. No part-year fees.
GST - No GST is charged at present, as Yarn and Yield Co-op Ltd is not registered for GST. If the Co-operative registers for GST in future, GST may be added on top of the subscription from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it applies.
Renewal - On the anniversary of your start date each year. We remind you 30 days before.
Grace Period - 30 days after your renewal date. You can stay an active member during that time.
Unpaid after 30 Days - Your membership lapses until you pay; you cannot vote or stand for the Board while lapsed. Paying restores it, and your renewal date stays the same
Subscriptions are payable in advance (Rule 6.2). Subscriptions are not refunded if your membership ends (Rule 12.2(a)).
Active membership (Rule 4.3)
Active members can vote, stand for the Board and take part fully in the life of the Co-operative. To be an active Community Member in a financial year, you must:
- pay the annual subscription for that year (Rule 4.3(a));
- take part in at least 2 activities of the Co-operative. Taking part includes attending or participating in an activity, and buying or using a Co-operative product or service (Rule 4.3(c)(i)); and
- complete at least 1 survey run by the Co-operative, if one is run that year (Rule 4.3(c)(ii)).
Your first year: requirements 2 and 3 do not apply in the financial year (1 July to 30 June) in which you join. They apply from the next 1 July (Rule 4.3(e)).
If you are not active: you are taken to be active unless the Board decides otherwise, and it must first give you written notice and a chance to respond (Rule 4.4). A member who is not active cannot vote. A membership that is not active for 2 financial years in a row must be cancelled (Rule 17.1(b)).
The Co-operative will record your participation (bookings, attendance, purchases and surveys) so you do not have to keep track yourself (Policy P03).
